[Back]         Treasures of Sutton Hoo, Exhibition - June 2009

This was an excellent exhibition, based on the treasures found at Sutton Hoo, the Anglo-Saxon burial ground of Kings.  This is a National Trust property, it doesn't have a house, but does have a very good exhibition Hall dedicated to some of the treasures found when the burial mounds were opened and there is a guided walk to the mounds, as well as other activities.

Our exhibition was held in the 'old squash court' this is a very nice open space with so much natural light it allowed us to exhibit our work in a very pleasing manner.  We had a great many visitors and a lot of compliments and even some WOWs as people came through the doors.  It was very encouraging to see so many men come to the exhibition who were genuinely interested in textiles and not just tagging along, one comment we heard was 'I have never thought of hanging textiles on the wall, they look very good'.
